Recommendations:

Ms. Carroon, a preservation architect, is a Principal at the Boston firm of Goody Clancy. She is responsible for the design and implementation of high-performance projects for institutional clients such as Harvard University, Yale University, the National Park Service and the General Services Administration. Her work is focused on the renovation of significant National Landmark structures. She was the Consulting Principal for Goody Clancy’s $45 million exterior restoration of the Massachusetts State House and the Managing Principal for the renovation of H.H. Richardson’s Trinity Church in Boston, a project which included the development of a new undercroft space below the church and the installation of six geothermal wells for a heat-pump system. Currently she is working on projects for the University of Michigan, Yale’s Hall of Graduate Studies, and Byerly Hall at the Radcliffe Institute.

Her achievements in the field of sustainable design for historic buildings led to an invitation to serve on Boston Mayor Menino’s Green Building Task Force, as well as a nomination to the U.S. Green Building Council’s Board of Directors. She has introduced new courses to the National Preservation Institute, the Boston Society of Architects, and the Harvard Graduate School of Design in order to educate others about the importance of appropriately integrating sustainable design with historic structures. She lectures frequently, and has presented at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, the National Preservation and the National AIA Conferences. In addition, she has shared her knowledge through design charettes conducted in association with the National Park Service. She has also authored various publications including a National Trust Forum article, “Green Design for Historic Buildings.”
