Michael Edison is an accomplished chemical engineer working for over 30 years in development, manufacturing and technical support services for a wide range of building restoration materials. A leader in the restoration industry, he has authored numerous technical articles on materials technology, has been a frequent lecturer at industry events, and has held leadership roles in the Association for Preservation Technology, the International Concrete Repair Institute, ASTM International and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Edison specializes in repair mortars, adhesives and coatings for concrete, stone and terra cotta, with particular focus on historic restoration, historic mortars, color science and natural cement technology. Since founding Edison Coatings, Inc. in 1981, he has developed more than 50 specialty materials used in concrete and masonry repair, as well as the systems for customizing these materials for individual projects. He has organized major technical conferences, including the First and Second American Natural Cement Conferences, and numerous local and regional technical programs such as the APT Northeast Paint Workshop and Restoration Technology Symposium.

Edison is Chairman of ASTM C1.10.04 task group on natural cement, which successfully reinstated ASTM C10 Specification for Natural Cement in 2006. Originally adopted in 1904, C10 is one of the oldest ASTM standards.

Edison has presented highly rated programs for national events such as the Association for Preservation Technology International's Annual Conference, several International Concrete Repair Institute National meetings and training programs, the Sealants Waterproofing and Restoration Institute's Technical Conference, the First and Second American Natural Cement Conferences and several Restoration & Renovation Conferences. He has also presented a wide variety of regional and local programs, including APT Chapters (Northeast, Ohio Valley, West Coast, Texas)and ICRI Chapters (Connecticut, Baltimore/Washington, Carolinas).

He has authored technical papers for the Journal of ASTM International, SWR Institute Applicator, ICRI Concrete Repair Bulletin and APT Journal of Preservation Technology.
